Co-operation Fingal Traveller programme is responsible for the following actions within the North Fingal area:

  • Primary Health Care Programme for Traveller women to become Community Healthcare Workers.
  • Representation for Travellers on the Community Care Area 8 Committee.
  • Active participation on the Eastern Area Regional Traveller Health Network Committee.
  • Maintenance of an advisory/steering committee which oversees the Traveller Programme.
  • A two-week summer project with young Travellers providing cultural and educational activities.
  • A programme focused on Traveller men; piloting actions e.g. landscaping, gardening and football.
  • Work on the National Traveller Health Needs Assessment Study.
  • Developing an after schools/homework club for young Travellers.
  • Promoting Drug awareness and education among the Traveller community.
  • Support, guidance and practical help to all Traveller families.

The programme is based at the Traveller Resource Centre in St. Macullins Park, Matt Lane, Balbriggan. This centre has been available to the Traveller Programme since September 2004 via the Fingal County Council. It is envisaged that this facility will become the centre point for the progress and development of the Traveller actions.
