Family Support ProgrammeThe Traveller Family Support Programme provides information, support, training, education and linkages for Travellers in relation to substance misuse - specifically drugs and alcohol. The programme is funded by the Regional Drugs Task Force and delivered by Co-operation Fingal. The aim of the programme is to provide a safe confidential place for families or individuals to address their needs and avail of accurate and appropriate support and information. The programme aims to ensure that services are not duplicated and, where appropriate, referrals to other services will be made. The Family Support Programme aims to take a holistic approach to addressing the needs of Traveller families. All support is provided in a non-judgemental and safe environment and clients are encouraged to involve their families or other supportive persons in addressing any issues. The Family Support Worker facilitates support for young people with programmes that include homework clubs, summer projects, and youth groups. When supports are in place for young people to access information, to participate in their local community, to engage in actions promoting self esteem and confidence, then they are less at risk of becoming involved in anti-social behaviour, substance abuse etc. The Family Support Programme provides:
