Enterprise

Co-operation Fingal's Enterprise service aims to support individuals interested in self-employment. Our Enterprise Co-ordinator will guide you through the steps required to turn your idea into a business venture. Free confidential advice, support, and guidance is available and provided to those considering self-employment.

  • Do you want to set up your own business?
  • Have you got an idea or hobby that you could earn money from but you don't know where to begin?
  • Do you want to know how to set up and register a Company?
  • Do you want to find out where to get finance?
  • Do you need to know about paying company taxes?
  • Do you need to find out how self-employment will affect your welfare payments?
  • Do you need to know about business planning?

Services available include:

  • One-to-one advice/support for individuals considering self-employment.
  • Identification of enterprise related training needs (please refer to Co-operation Fingal training page)
  • Assistance with business plan preparation/market research.
  • Advice on company registration, taxation legalities.
  • Referrals to other agencies for specific supports, including access to grants/finances/schemes e.g. Fingal County Enterprise Board, Department of Social and Family Affairs, First Step, Balbriggan Enterprise Development Group Ltd.
  • Follow-up support during initial stages of enterprise set-up.
  • Referral for mentor support.
  • Access where appropriate to the Back to Work Enterprise allowance, including advice and support with application process.
  • Approval of Back to Work Enterprise Allowance applications on behalf of Department of Social and Family Affairs.

 

Department of Social & Family Affairs Back to Work Enterprise Allowance Scheme:

Are you receiving a Department of Social and Family Affairs payment?

If you are in receipt of a social welfare payment and meet the specified criteria, you may be entitled to retain social welfare payments on a sliding scale for a period of 4 years. Co-operation Fingal process and approve Back to Work Enterprise Allowance applications on behalf of the Department of Social and Family Affairs; this service is provided to people residing in the North Fingal area.
