Co-operation Fingal is the partnership representative on the Regional Drugs Task Force (RDTF). Activities of the RDTF are delivered under four pillars, namely:
- Supply Reduction
- Prevention & Education
- Treatment
- Research
Co-operation Fingal's role in the RDTF is to ensure that:
- The community is fully consulted regarding drug awareness initiatives.
- On the ground issues concerning drug use and families are brought to the RDTF.
- Networking of all community groups involved in drug issues is facilitated.
- Appropriate training and capacity building is facilitated for the community/ voluntary sector.
- Ensure the community are aware of funding available through the RDTF and support them in their application for same.
- Information regarding all the above issues is disseminated to the community.
Current activity:
Co-operation Fingal are currently supporting the development of a network of community drug awareness groups in the North Fingal area, incorporating Balbriggan, Skerries, Holmpatrick, Rush, Lusk and Swords. The aim of this network will be to contribute to a mapping exercise of all groups involved in drug awareness, education and family support; support each other, share information and identify appropriate training to build their capacity to meet their needs. The second phase of this will be to ensure that appropriate resources are allocated by the RDTF to meet these training needs.
