Fingal Volunteer Project

Established as an action under the Fingal Cohesion Group, the Fingal Volunteer Project is focused on promoting volunteerism in Fingal. The Fingal Volunteer Centre has now been established and initially their work will focus on the Balbriggan and Blanchardstown areas. This service will include activities such as:

  • Providing a matching service and support for both the volunteer and the voluntary organisation.
  • Promoting and supporting 'Make a Difference Days' where corporate involvement in volunteer projects is facilitated for the benefit of the community.
  • Dissemination of information regarding voluntary organisations, training, best practice etc.
  • Provide networking opportunities for all like-minded voluntary organisations throughout the county.

To date funding for the Fingal Volunteer Centre has been through Fingal Cohesion Group and Fingal County Council with both Co-operation Fingal and Blanchardstown Partnership contributing to programme costs. However, mainstream funding has recently been approved by the Department of Community Rural & Gaeltacht Affairs for 2008. The initiative will be staffed by both a Development Manager and Development Officer and expanded to all areas of Fingal.
